The Arts Council of Calvert County’s annual grant season opens August 1.

Funding for grants offered by the Arts Council of Calvert County originate from a combination of the Maryland State Arts Council, foundation and private grants, community sponsors, and private donors. Grantees must give credit to the Arts Council of Calvert County and the Maryland State Arts Council in brochures, programs, news releases, publications, online advertisements, and all other publicity materials. Projects must take place within the fiscal year for which they are applied (fiscal year begins July 1 and ends June 30). Applications are reviewed by the Grants Review committee.

Arts in Education

The Arts Council of Calvert County offers up to a $1000 Arts in Education grant to every qualified arts-related teacher in Calvert County. These grants are to support artistic presentations that further the cultural arts development of students in state-chartered public and private schools located in Calvert County, MD. Schools across Calvert County benefit from this program which provides funds to help teachers in art, music, theater, and dance create educational opportunities for their students by bringing the arts and artists to their classroom.

Funding for the Arts in Education grant program is restricted to programming and presentations by Maryland artists who must meet high educational goals and professional standards. Check the Maryland State Arts Council’s Teaching Artist Roster to find a suitable facilitator for your grant-funded project.

Community Grant

The Arts Council of Calvert County’s Community grant program is intended for certified nonprofit organizations who wish to present an arts-related event in Calvert County.

The Arts Council of Calvert County grants must be used in, or for, Calvert County, MD to support cultural arts programs. Applicants for the Community grant must be a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Applicants need not be geographically based in Calvert County, but the program must be presented in or for the County to qualify. Grant requests require a 1:1 dollar-for-dollar match. Grant season remains open until grant funds are expired.
